Recently, a Pluslife Mini Dock had landed on the edge of the world, an island named ‘Tristan Da Cuhna’ in the South Atlantic to support the healthcare system in combating COVID-19.

Tristan, is a remote group of volcanic islands in the south Atlantic Ocean. It is the most remote inhabited archipelago in the world with only 250 permanent inhabitants on the main island based on the record in 2018.

Tristan da Cunha is a British Overseas Territory with its own constitution. There is no airport on the main island and the only way of travelling in and out of Tristan is by boat, a six-day trip from South Africa.

Since the beginning of the global pandemic, getting the necessary medical supplies to Tristan being proved challenging because of the island's remoteness. Not to mention the risk of bringing external SARS-CoV-2 infection by supply boats has also been largely increased and therefore threatening the welfare of the local community.

Under these circumstances, the need of introducing rapid SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic tests to Tristan da Cunha has become one of the most important measures to prevent local residents' exposure to the COVID-19 virus.
